App Review – Doom

Today’s App Review is Doom by id Software LLC.

I remember playing Doom when it first game out and I played it right through my childhood alongside Quake, The Lion King and Star Trek PC games. Thinking back now I was way too young to be playing that kind of game but I don’t think it did me any harm…or did it!

The iOS adaption of the game brings the old memories flooding back and it is just as good as I remember. The graphics really are the same as they were in the 90’s and I still remember all the little hints and cheats.

As a one person shooting game there are few modern games that can beat it although I am not sure someone new to the game would appreciate it’s brilliance.

The only downside to the game are the controls which take a little getting used to but what I and some others that tried it have found is that it tends to result in pretty bad motion sickness. I first tried the game a couple of years ago and recently retried it hoping updates may have fixed this but unfortunately not.
